Second Saturday started in 2021, right after vaccines became widely available. After surviving the pandemic by making music together at home, my housemates and I wanted to expand that energy to the friends we hadn’t seen in over a year, so we began a jam session (and small party) on the second Saturday of every month. Early on it was an art-and-music event we were setting up stations to display and make visual art outsider and running full jams through a 16-channel Mackie mixer inside, plugging everyone in, getting synced, and recording when we could. It’s continued ever since across the places I’ve lived, and now it’s settled at Heterodox HQ—hosting electronic musicians from the PDX area and beyond.
This release was recorded September 13, 2025 by Ryan (aka IFSH). It was an odd one: I’d played Olympia the night before and wasn’t sure I’d host, but Ryan didn’t get the memo—he showed up anyway. We recorded two pieces, and I’ve edited them into digestible parts. Enjoy.
